Menopause – Drug Companies and The Quick Fix: The Exploitation of Menopausal Women
From the National Library of Medicine (1996)
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8735350/
“Using age 50 as a proxy for menopause, about 25 million women pass through menopause each year, and we estimate that in 1990 there were 467 million post-menopausal women in the world, with an average age of about 60 years. By 2030, the world population of menopausal and postmenopausal women is projected to increase to 1.2 billion, with 47 million new entrants each year.”
Note: “Post-menopausal” means we passed peri-menopause and menopause. Menopause seems to only last for one day because it is the day of your very last period. Everything past that one single day is post-menopause.
That means that in 1990, 467 million women were having hot flashes, or some symptom of menopause.
And by 2030, the world population of menopausal and postmenopausal women is projected to increase to 1.2 billion, with 47 million new entrants each year having hot flashes, or some symptom of menopause. Hot flashes being the main, continuous, symptom of menopause.

“Most (73%) women reported that they were not currently treating their menopause, which included hot flashes (16%), weight gain (15%), difficulties with sleep (14%), and night sweats (14%), among others.”
Ok. Why are 73% of menopausal women not treating their menopause? Well, I have some questions for the study...
Had the 73% of women TRIED to treat their menopause? If not, why? If so, how? HRT? Were there side effects? Did they try the natural route? Because if you don’t treat it with pharmaceutical drugs it doesn’t count, right? Or does it? I mean if the drug companies drugs worked for hot flashes, why wouldn’t ALL women be on HRT or some newfangled pharmaceutical?
Hot flashes ARE, and remain, the main symptom of menopause and they are a bitch to deal with.
SO, why do the new drugs that have come out to relieve our hot flashes LIST hot flashes as a complication of the drug?
Are they trying to kill us one menopausal woman at a time?
Maybe that is why we do not treat our menopause, because we can’t. We no longer believe. We have learned there is no quick fix to rid ourselves of the symptoms of menopause.
To treat our menopause would be to possibly risk our lives because pharmaceutical companies are using women as guinea pigs. There is not one side effect I want to risk having and they have not studied these drugs long enough.
Check this out: The first clinical trials on HRT and chronic postmenopausal conditions were started in the USA in the late 1990s.
Less than 30 years.
The women from these studies...where are they? Are they still alive? Have they had long term complications from the use of HRT? These women are hitting their 70’s, 80’s, 90’s now. Were they happy they took HRT or regretful?

It is my hope that you don’t either.
