Hot and Healthy – Thriving Through Menopause One Pound at a Time – Day 57-61, April 7- April 11, 2024
I’ve been slacking on blogging but not slacking on working out. Weigh in is tomorrow and I hope to have lost just a touch of weight in the last week.
Here are the workouts I have used, some are repeats, and you can find them on my YouTube Channel.

Along with those, I have to do 45 minutes of physical therapy a day, which includes leg lifts in 2 variations, hip bridges, etc. That makes it tough to get in a second real workout.
Today I added weight to my Dumbbells and used my Bala Bangles along with drinking 2 protein shakes and I am still wearing my Fitbit and logging my food.
April 9th and 10th brought nice spring weather to Hawaii. Low winds, little rain (today, not so much), and the hubby and I were able to get some beach time in. Yes, that is a picture that I took Tuesday. I can’t show you the others, I’m topless in them.
All of Hawaii is topless. Any beach, any Island. I honestly cannot believe that I never knew that until I moved here, and I cannot seem to find out how long it has been allowed (I did some internet searches...nothing) but it’s totally cool and I take advantage of this whenever it is appropriate. Since this may be our last year here, I will be topless every time we hit a beach. If you ever want to know how freeing being topless it...well...it’s bloody amazing. But I am way off topic.
Le’s talk about eating out. I sure am getting picky about where I eat. It was like this prior to menopause, but now, it just seems like a waste to go out to eat something I can make at home. And eating out is wasteful in so many ways.
In my world, every onion slice does not need to be uniform. In some restaurants they throw those pieces away. (I, personally, have not asked each restaurant I have gone to if they compost, recycle, make the staff meals with those parts. I hope they do.)
There is still water put on the table without being asked for. Excess breads, super large portions that require the use of ToGo containers contributing to the plastic waste in the world.
Add the fact that I have been to many really good restaurants, according to Yelp, and they blew chunks.
Why would you grill iceberg lettuce? It does NOT hold up. Try Romaine. The place that says it’s “all homemade” then you get bottled salad dressing. The Lemongrass soup that listed every ingredient possible but left off mushrooms, even though they were in the soup. I really hated the burger place that served malts, as they did not know what a real malt was, and then food was cold and lastly the server gave me a ‘tude. The last time I ate Taco Bell, I got heartburn. Yes, once a year I used to LOVE Taco Bell.
Our last meal out was a combination Valentines Day, Wedding Anniversary, Steak & BJ Day celebration, as hubby was sick for the first two and I was sick for the 3rd. We had dinner at the Beach House by Roy Yamaguchi, which, if you are on Oahu, you should go try. We ate food I would not make at home, although I will be trying to make the Brussels because hubby loved them.
I will make them with vegan butter or olive oil, less salt, no pork fat, and I bet I can still make them taste amazing.
Therefore we eat out less and when we do, it needs to be a picture worthy meal and one I cannot make at home. Not every meal I make is restaurant worthy. My plating really sucks, ask my hubby. No matter how I try, I just can’t do it. So, my plates may not look like Gordon Ramsay’s, but the food tastes amazing.
It’s pretty busy April so I may not get on here everyday but know that I am wishing you well on your menopausal weight loss journey.
