Hot and Healthy – Thriving Through Menopause One Pound at a Time - Days 40-47 March 14 to March 28, 2024

Getting sick is no joke anymore. Just like we can’t starve ourselves for a few days to lose a few pounds, it takes much longer to heal after a stupid cold. And that’s all it was...a stupid cold. Not covid, not the flu, but it laid me out for three weeks.

And, of course, after three weeks of pure laziness, it was very hard to motivate to start exercising again, but I have a goal.

On February 11, 2024, not only did I weigh myself, I measured my wrists. One, I weighed 130 pounds, which for me is 15 pounds too much. Then I tried to circle my wrist with my thumb and middle finger, and I couldn’t. Most of my whole life I have been able to do that, but I had gained too much weight, for me, and I didn’t like it at all.

This is the second time in my life I have weighed this much, besides being pregnant, and I never went above 140 even then. When I gained the weight the first time, it was my 2nd or 3rd winter in Pennsylvania. I joined a gym back then and slimed down for quite a few years.

So here we go, starting the process yet again. Lose 15 pounds in the healthiest way possible. Change the diet, again, and start exercising, again.

I am not a vegetarian or vegan. I don’t go gluten-free or follow any fad diets. I do go Organic whenever possible. What I do is listen to my body and my body told me I needed to change.

Over the years I have watched some food documentaries like Forks Over Knives and The Twin Experiment and each time I watch one of these, my diet changes. If you watch these shows, your diet will change as well.

What we do to the food we eat is incomprehensible and I feel sad for all the people that have never had real, fresh food. Like pick your own tomatoes off the vine fresh food.

And there is little real food left.

We can go organic but if the farm next door uses pesticides, I guarantee that the pesticides don’t know the boundary lines when it’s windy, nor do they follow a path when it rains.

Here’s one for you: Cut some PVC pipe outside. There is no way in hell you can clean it all up, even if you use a drop cloth. So particles of the PVC piping are now on your driveway or in the dirt. Your car, your feet, the wind, and the rain will now take the plastic PVC shavings away to the soil, oceans and rivers so wild animals and fish can eat it. Now imagine this on a farm. The cows, sheep, pigs, they all ingest what we discard.

If you wonder how microplastics get in our meat and fish, see the above paragraph, then times it just by the number of houses you can see. Everything we build and create makes waste, and now, due to our neglect, we eat it. It is very unhealthy for us.

That being said, STOP EATING PROCESSED FOODS.

Seriously. Stop.

Lower your meat intake and up your fruits and veggies. Need protein? Drink protein shakes.

I have said this before, I am NOT perfect in the way I eat. I am worse then some, better than others, but I’m learning.

Well, that was it for today’s rant.

On to other matters. I seem to have started with this “lose weight program” all over again but for the fact that I am actually down to a weight of 123.20. My post tomorrow will dig more into this but today was about our food.

So, I started today with Kaleigh Cohen Strength:

It gave my body a good stretch first thing.

Later on in the day I rejoined Kaleigh with this workout:

This was a really good workout. I could keep up and do just about everything and that is always a bonus for me. It’s not that I don’t mind modifications but having to do them more than 25% of the time does not a good workout make.

I am adding my food log to each post now as well if you feel like following along. This is the order I ate it in throughout the day:

Organic Probiotic Cashewmilk Peach Yogurt

Organic Protein Powder

Organic Marijuana Brownie

Organic ¼ Cup whole Cashews

Organic 1/6 Bar Sea Salt Dark Chocolate

Organic Cauliflower Crackers - 20

1 Slice Gouda Cheese

Organic Protein Powder

Organic Stuffed Shells – Homemade - 2

Halo Light Chocolate Ice Cream (1/16 cup)

Irish Cream – Too much. I will slim this down as the exercise ramps up again.

Water, water, water...all day long.

Yes, there is processed food in there, but you will see less and less of it as I get back into my routine and if you ever want the recipe of something that I make, please let me know.

Have a lovely day.
