Hot and Healthy – Thriving Through Menopause One Pound at a Time – Day 22 (3/3/2024)

I was up too early. Went to go meet a cat artist for my non-profit. I’m going to cross promote here for a sec. So I have a non-profit cat rescue, but we don’t intake cats. We are building a mobile feral cat feeder. If you want to see what we are doing or possibly donate, go google Furever Feline Cat Rescue. That’s my cross promotion.

It was quite noisy for a Sunday morning today. Most of the people who live around me know that Sundays are quiet days. But, oh well, can’t win them all. It’s usually quiet. Like many cities though, it is getting louder and louder here. That’s why it won’t be so tough to leave.

We are not doing enough to combat noise as a pollution. It disrupts our sleep, makes us lose concentration, makes our hair stick on end. That’s the kind side.

For people with PTSD, people who have had break-ins, babies, older people...some of these noises are just simply enough. Yes, I am one of these people. Cars and motorcycles are allowed to get louder and louder. Construction starts at 7am if you are lucky, 6 if you are not. Trash vehicles start before first light. This neighbor mows at 7 today, the other neighbor mows at 8 the next. Sitting in a doctors office and some moron has the volume up on their phone for the whole waiting room to hear. FYI, no matter how low you have it, WE CAN HEAR IT.

These extra noises make us crazy. Set us off. Make our nerves stand up on end.

Added sleep disruptions and stress can cause weight gain and that is the last thing menopausal women need. Don’t we ladies get enough thrown at us?

My rant for the day.

I got home, had some toast with peanut butter (I had a yogurt before I left), and then did todays morning workout. So, researching different types of cardio, I came across something called a Tabata Workout.

Here is what Tabata is: Tabata is HIIT but not all HIIT is Tabata. Essentially, what I discovered was that Tabata is basically a higher intensity version of HIIT, with shorter and more rigidly defined workouts that will kick your sweet little butt.

And kick my butt she did. Here is the link to the workout:

I did close enough to 75% of it. A lot of exercises that make be jump or get on the floor and back up again are too much for my shoulders and my knee, so I forgo them and do other exercises that keep my heart rate elevated, and that can keep time to the workout itself. That was my cardio, strength training for the day. The video did focus a lot on the legs. One thing I did not like: No warm up or cool down and you seriously need a cool down after Tabata. I did a cool down video from one of the other Youtubers I follow, but it kind of made me upset at the end. Now, not knowing the whole story, whenever I hear of a dog in heat, my first thought is getting the damn dog fixed, but I am not sure it’s worth it to even mention it to them that I draw the line at breeders and those who refuse to fix their animals, no matter if I like their workouts or not. Either way, their stuff has been removed from my channel.

My second workout will be yoga for 30 minutes and I am going to try Yoga With Cassandra around 4.

The day got interrupted as my husbands moped got stolen from one of the lookout points here on the island. I am back now, it’s close to 5pm. I’ll still get Yoga in. Here is the link:

I did my yoga, hubby and I had dinner and then we get a call that the stolen moped was recovered, and the guy caught. We had to truck over the hill at 9:45pm in the rain and get the moped. It was trashed but drivable, so we drove it home, slowly.

See you tomorrow.

You can find all the videos I workout to on my YouTube Channel.
