Menopause - What to Look for in Your Supplements.

What to Look for in Your Supplements.

When I first saw the doctors for my menopause, they told me that I could not have HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy). That was fine with me, I didn’t ask for it. I’m a naturalist at heart.

My biggest goal was to make sure no product I tried had magnesium stearate which is in a TON of drugs and is quite controversial. It is a filler, and it is claimed that it makes the drug less potent. (I believe this) This claim has been made by many, but the drug companies want it there. The options to replace it are vast, but it is the cheapness which is why it is used.

Here is a very interesting article on the subject.

https://nutrigold.com/blogs/articles/mythbuster-debunking-the-most-commonly-propagated-myths-about-magnesium-stearate

It talks about the myths of magnesium stearate and how unhealthy it actually is. I really like myth 4:

Myth #4: Magnesium Stearate does NOT impact the bioavailability or absorption of the nutrients it is formulated with.

Even the most passionate supporters of magnesium stearate will agree that magnesium stearate has been clinically shown to delay the dissolution of the active ingredients that it is mixed with during production. This delay can impact the bioavailability of the active ingredient to the body and, consequently, undermine the active ingredients' therapeutic benefits.

Yep, and that alone is enough to make me go “au natural” with my supplements, and I encourage you to do the same!
