Hot flashes are the main symptom of my Menopause. No other symptom affects my life nearly as much, so I am willing to try just about anything for hot flash relief.

There was a commercial for this product on TV. I thought it was worth investigating. Here is the pitch:

Embr Wave 2 Thermal Wristband - Effective, Natural Relief from Hot Flashes, Night Sweats, Menopause Symptoms – Improve Sleep, Manage Anxiety - Warming and Cooling Rechargeable Bracelet

I found it on Amazon for $299.00 with free shipping and a guaranteed 30 day return. Here is what got me interested:

“TAKE CONTROL OF HOT FLASHES* - Clinical research has shown that wearing the Embr Wave 2 wristband gives you immediate relief from hot flashes and helps improve sleep. At the press of a button, get precisely calibrated cooling or warming sensations to help you feel more in control of your body. *Results typically improve over time. You may not feel the Wave’s full effectiveness at first. USE EMBR WAVE FOR AT LEAST TWO WEEKS to give your body time to adjust.”

There was no reason to give it two weeks.

I tried it on and went through the paperwork then played with it. It was great during the day for quick hot flash relief BUT it banged on the desk when I worked so I had to take it off. OK, can’t wear it while I am working. Ugh.

The wristband is magnetic, awkward to put on, and also painful if you have arthritis. Once I did get it on, it would take a few minutes to get the adjustment right. A pain in the ass.

At bedtime, I set it all up for nighttime relief and the first few nights were not bad but then my hot flashes kicked it up a notch and the EMBR Wave 2 did not stand a chance. I tried it for a few more nights and by night 6, I wanted to rip it off my wrist.

If you have light hot flashes and want a toy that can maybe help you with relief, go spend the $300.00. It may help you with office and home temperatures. It could be good for going out to dinner and such when the environment is not always pleasant.

If you are like me, someone who works at a desk and has between 6-30 hot flashes a day, don’t waste your money. The EMBR 2 simply cannot keep up.

Products that claim relief from hot flashes need to try their products on us tough customers.
