The Price of Menopause

Since my menopause began in October of 2018, I have spent thousands on mixable concoctions, capsules, oils etc., to ease my symptoms. Over the counter formulas doctors prescribed, things I purchased on my own to try, and then the hours upon endless hours awake in the middle of the night, during a hot flash, researching hot to stop them.

One product would work for a few months then stop, then none of them worked for any amount of time.

There were endless bottles of stuff in the cabinet. They say to try them for 60 days…seriously, if a product does not work after two weeks, it is not going to work at all. But I did the 60 days, the regimen they call for. I got nothing. No relief whatsoever.

Fans and towels. Now those products work. And for the most part, much less expensive.

I have two fans. One that is a standalone (Amazon, pretty cheap) and one I can wear around my neck, the JISULIFE neck fan, which was a gift from an amazing friend. Both of these are the bomb.

Then there are the towels. So many towels.

During bad nights, I sleep with one large towel under me, one towel wrapped around my head and two dish towels to wipe my face with. Next to the bed there is always a wet washcloth I use to cool off. In the freezer is another washcloth that I keep frozen for daytime hot flashes.

The only issue with the frozen washcloths is that after a time they can actually break. If you fold them, as I do, they can crack in the middle. But seriously, who cares, so long as it is COLD baby!

Are you spending a ton of money on supplements that don’t work? What does work for you?
